چکیده
The biodiversity and climate crises are critical challenges of this century. Wildflower meadows in urban areas could provide important nature-based solutions, addressing the jointly benefitting society process. King's College Cambridge (England, UK) established a wildflower meadow over portion its iconic Back Lawn 2019, replacing fine lawn first laid 1772. We used surveys, Wilcoxon signed rank ANOVA models to compare species richness, abundance composition plants, spiders, bugs, bats nematodes supported by meadow, remaining lawn, 3 years. estimated change impact vs from maintenance emissions, soil carbon sequestration reflectance effect. surveyed members university quantify societal benefits of, attitudes towards, increased planting on collegiate estate. In spite small size (0.36 ha), approximately three times more plant species, spider bug individuals, were recorded often than lawn. Terrestrial invertebrate biomass was 25 higher compared with Fourteen conservation designations (six for lawn), alongside specialist species. Reduced fertilising associated reduced emissions an 1.36 Mg CO2-e per hectare year Relative 25%–34% relative Soil stocks did not differ between Respondents thought provided greater aesthetic, educational mental wellbeing services lawns. open responses, lawns undesirable elitism social exclusion (most colleges restrict access senior college), respondents proved overwhelmingly favour place This study demonstrates substantial local biodiversity, cultural ecosystem mitigation, supplied at lower cost maintaining conventional

Wildflower green roofs for urban landscaping, ecological sustainability and biodiversity
The aim of this trial was to test a wildflower roof in order to show how a country landscape fits in an urban environment. The bio-agronomic performance, the biodiversity dynamics during the two-years experiment, and the pollinating fauna, were analysed. Each plant group was able to efficiently colonize the surface of the roof though in different periods and with various modalities. Thermal ins...

Eighty consecutive patients with amblyopia ex anopsia were treated with the Cambridge Stimulator (Cam.). Each patient received an average of six, 15 minute treatment sessions at a frequency of 7-2 per week. Treatment was terminated after two consecutive treatments indicated no change in visual acuity. Sixty-nine patients were given mmimal occlusion simultaneously with Cam. treatment. Eleven pat...
متن کاملdevelopment and implementation of an optimized control strategy for induction machine in an electric vehicle
in the area of automotive engineering there is a tendency to more electrification of power train. in this work control of an induction machine for the application of electric vehicle is investigated. through the changing operating point of the machine, adapting the rotor magnetization current seems to be useful to increase the machines efficiency. in the literature there are many approaches wh...

Carbon offset mechanisms have been established to mitigate climate change through changes in land management. Regulatory frameworks enable landowners and managers to generate saleable carbon credits on domestic and international markets. Identifying and managing the associated co-benefits and dis-benefits involved in the adoption of carbon offset projects is important for the projects to contri...
متن کاملClimate services for society: origins, institutional arrangements, and design elements for an evaluation framework
Climate services involve the generation, provision, and contextualization of information and knowledge derived from climate research for decision making at all levels of society. These services are mainly targeted at informing adaptation to climate variability and change, widely recognized as an important challenge for sustainable development. This paper reviews the development of climate servi...
